The School of Continuing Education

I. Overview

The School of Continuing Education of Guangzhou Maritime University is responsible for the organization, implementation and management of the continuing education in the university. It is also in charge of adult higher education, continuing education for professional and technical personnel, and various technical training.

The School of Continuing Education has many years of experience in running higher education for adults. In accordance with the requirements of conducting universal and lifelong education, and building a learning society, the enrollment scale of higher education for adults has recently been expanded year by year, and the quality of our education has been continuously improved. The school embraces a good reputation and influence in both Guangdong province and the transport industry. The school currently has 30 adult higher education majors that have different levels, and offers navigation technology, marine engineering, naval architecture and ocean engineering, harbour, waterway and coastal engineering, engineering management, and international business, finance, financial management, electrical engineering and automation and other majors; in 2020, the school has opened 8 self-study undergraduate majors including finance, engineering management, computer science and technology, and digital media art. Over the years, it has trained a large number of high-level professional and technical personnel with good comprehensive quality for various industries in the society.

In line with the national and Guangdong economic and social development strategies, the School of Continuing Education will be deeply integrated into major national strategic layouts such as the The Belt and Road initiative and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area following the requirements of the Ministry of Education, Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City to prepare for the establishment of Guangzhou Jiaotong University. Meanwhile, taking this as an opportunity, the school devotes itself to the connotation construction and characteristic development, and comprehensively improves the quality of adult higher education and the level of running a school. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the adult higher education of the school will continue to expand the enrollment which will reach about 30,000.
