School of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering

School of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering

I. Overview

The School of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering has five undergraduate programs: Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Mechanical Engineering and Robotics Engineering. The school consists of 3 departments (Ship Engineering Department, Mechanical Engineering Department, and Electrical Engineering Department), 1 Experimental Center, 6 Engineering Centers (2 provincial-level and 4 city-level), and a Provincial Cooperative Education Center. With continuous adjustments, the structure and layout of the majors have been optimized. The school currently has 1,660 full-time students.

The school has a team of professional teachers in a reasonable major discipline structure There are 66 faculty members, 56 full-time teachers, and 15 external teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 9 have professor titles, 14 have associate professor titles and 24 doctors. The proportions of senior professional titles, deputy senior professional titles, and doctoral qualifications are 6.07%, 42.86%, and 53.57%, respectively.

The school is well equipped with teaching and laboratory facilities. There are 23 laboratories in the laboratory center with` covering area of 6,854 square meters, including Marine Multifunctional Pool Laboratory, Engineering Robot laboratory, Integrated Ship Structure Laboratory, Clean Energy Ship Integrated Laboratory and PLC laboratory. The total value of instruments and equipment is 53.2423 million yuan for teaching and research purpose, and the number of experimental equipment sets is up to 826. Also, the school has set up12 off-campus practice sites together with industries and enterprises.

Higher education requires the continuously optimization of the structure such as  majors, types and the subjects, facilitating the intersection and integration of multi–disciplines, enhancing the scale of practical, compound and technical cultivation of talents. Our school provide students vigorously development of innovation and entrepreneurship education according to our major features. With a good sense of service, solid foundation and strong practical ability, graduates have gained recognition from employers and the society. The employment rate of graduates is over 99%.
