School of International Exchange

I. Overview

School of International Exchange of Guangzhou Maritime University, a secondary school, was founded in 2019 to adapt to the development strategy of opening-up education, improve the international development level of the university and promote international cooperation and exchange.

The School serves as an important window for the internationalization of GMU. It is primarily responsible for the enrollment, education, management and service of students in various international exchange programs, organizing training and carrying out student exchange programs and researches in international education.

Relying on the industry characteristic and advantageous resources of GMU, the School adheres to schooling philosophy of cultivation in moral composition, learning for practice, achievement of complementary advantages, development with specialization and promotion in international exchanges.

II. Main Undergraduate-Graduate Programs

At present, three kinds of sino-foreign undergraduate-graduate articulation programs are being carried out including Sino-German “4+1” articulation programs, Sino-Australian“3+2” articulation programs and Sino-Italian “3+2” articulation programs, which have been officially enrolled in the College Entrance Examination since 2019.

III. International Cooperation

The School to date has established academic exchange and international educational cooperation programs with over 30 well-known universities in more than 10 countries and regions such as University of Padova, University of Technology Sydney, Curtin University, University of Strathclyde, Swansea University, Birmingham City University and Dresden International University and so on. It devotes to cultivating international talents who are competent in quality thinking, professional skills, cross-cultural communication, innovation and practice, and creating a good platform for students to enjoy high-quality international educational resources by the sino-foreign articulation programs like “2+2”, “3+X” and “4+1”, the model of mutual recognition of courses, credits, degrees with foreign cooperative universities, introducing foreign famous universities’ high-quality teaching resources, advanced curriculum system and classic original textbooks, gathering high-level teachers at home and abroad, and drawing on advanced teaching ideas, methods and means.

The School will be dedicated to leading the internationalization of GMU and cultivating high-quality international compound talents with global vision and patriotic sentiment while expanding educational scale and improving educational quality. It will keep focusing on further developing international exchange programs in cooperation with well-known foreign universities and expand international exchange and cooperation, serve the needs of a high-level university, and contribute to the opening-up policy of China.
