Professor Baris Soyer, University of Swansea, UK visited GMU

On the afternoon of November 22th, 2019, Professor Baris Soyer, the director of the Legal Research Center for international shipping and trade, Law School of Swansea University, UK visited GMU. The purpose of this visit is to discuss the joint training of graduate students, exchange students, teachers' mutual visiting and other projects, and to hold lectures for the students of maritime law in our school.

Professor Baris Soyer was invited to give a lecture for the students majoring in maritime law, introduced the geographical location and history of Swansea, and the research-led international shipping and Trade Law Research Center of Swansea University Law School has world leading research and international reputation in the fields of shipping, maritime affairs, international maritime law, international commercial law, trade law, insurance law, intellectual property rights and business practices, etc., and Swansea University Law School's legal and social Influence and contribution, mainly including lawyer and industry professional training courses, LLM courses, published books and articles, research projects, foundation funding, employability and prospects, internship opportunities, famous visiting scholars or practitioners, expert teaching, superior learning environment, excellent teachers and academic teams, and the concept of cultivating outstanding top legal talents.

Prof. Baris Soyer also focused on the postgraduate joint training cooperation program (4 + 1 LLM master's degree program), including LLM postgraduate courses, course learning units and credits, project scholarships, admission requirements and procedures, IELTS scores, tuition fees. Finally, Prof. Baris Soyer had a good interaction with the students at the scene, and answered the professional questions and the graduate degree programs that the students were interested in.The visit of Prof. Baris Soyer, provided rare opportunities for students majoring in maritime law, and laid a good foundation for training high-quality applied international maritime law professionals of GMU.
